All Clear

If you haven't read the previous two posts...you need to catch up with those.

So it is 10:30 in the PM and all is clear. Melon that has been cut up and stored in the fridge is still good after about a week and half. It is a little mushy, but if you don't mind the slightly soggy texture, the aroma and taste are still grade A cantaloupe!! The melon from this morning and this afternoon are all gone and the stomach is in check. Hooray cantaloupe!

So far so good...

I'm 6 hours into the melon ordeal and so far so good. Innards are in check, no fever, no spots and most importantly -- as Bugs taught us all, no coat on my tongue. I wasn't able to finish it all this morning. There was a lot...but also I was a little scurred. Things are good though, so time for more melon!

How long is cantaloupe good for?

I've been a fan of Blind Melon for years, but wasn't until recently that I started to like cantaloupe. Didn't even know how to spell it until now. I spelled it cantelope on my first attempt. Good thing I still got my looks. Anyway, Holly got me into it...she can bring home the melon! Chop it up in the fridge. Then I can take it to work and forget about it for about a week and haaaaaaaallllfff....cause shes a woman! Not sure how long we had the cantaloupe at home. Was in the fridge at least a day or two. Brought it into work Wednesday the 22nd. I took the afternoon off to go to the lake (I'll come back later with those pics) and forgot to eat my melon. I was also off Thursday and Friday cause we drove 600 miles to El Paso to take my brother home and to visit. Came into the office on Monday...forgot the melon was still there. Tuesday....forgot. Finally this morning I go to put my lunch in the fridge and sooo happy to see my melon still there. I took it to the office to eat and realized its been a while. So I open it and it smells delicioso! I inspect for mold. Inspection clean. The taste test...slightly softer than I remember melon being, but tasty nonetheless. I ask some friends how long melon lasts...no one knows, but chellers offers this link that says cut up melon in the fridge lasts 3 days.

I'm still eating the melon. We'll see how I'm felling this afternoon...

On the Run...

(Click newspaper to enlarge)

Old headline...but I think I've seen this guy in Austin. We were in El Paso last Christmas. We were on our way to my aunt's house for Christmas and stopped at Circle K for some lotto tickets to hand out as gifts to the family. We were going to buy Wii's for everyone, but they were so hard to find...so we just got them $1 scratch-off tickets. It could be like giving them 100 Wii's!!

So we are at the Circle K gassing up and buying tickets. Holly managed to snap a few pics of the culprit making his getaway. Very striking fellow if I do say so myself.

(tried to make a casual getaway, but the jig was up)

(look at the guy at the door, he could have stopped the criminal, but he punked out)

If you know the whereabouts of this hunk, a hunk of burning love...feel free to challenge him to some StarCraft, Madden, Guitar Hero, Mario Kart, Mario Strikers Charged or Wii Tennis. Yeah boi!!

#33

It took me 33 years, but I finally made it...33 years old!! Had to go to stoopid work on my birfday, last Tuesday the 14th. My lil bro Isaiah flew in that morning. Holly picked him up at the airport. Sold my Sony DSC-H2 DSLR for a cool $250 that afternoon too. It helped pay for one of my birfday presents. That night we met some friends over at Austin's Park 'n Pizza for all you can eat and play special. Started out with some go-kart racing and rock wall climbing, my decrypt old arse made it to the top. It was the kids side, but so what. Isaiah and Holly's bro Mike tried, but Mike's shoulder ain't doing well and Isaiah fell a couple times. Young bucks couldn't hack it. Daryl, Anita, Brian and Jean all showed up too and the fun started.

The go-karts are great. They say "no bumping or we'll pull you out," but they never do. I thought I would be able to take pics of people eating my dust, but it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. There is no power steering on the go-karts, so I had to use both hands to steer. Tried to get some good pics, but only got a few decent ones...the rest were pics of my knee or the road or clouds, pretty useless. Last race of the game Brian was leading the way pretty much the whole time while I battled with Daryl for position. He was taking tight turns to block me out, but it slowed both of us down and we fell away from the pack. So I just decided to wait for Brian who was about to lap us anyways. Let him pass me then on the next turn I side-swiped him and sent him spinning into the guard rail. There is no reverse on go-karts either, so he had to wait for the attendant to get to him and free him up. He came in last! Score!

Played some more video games and ate pizza...right after the pizza we decided it'd be fun to get on a kiddie ride...the tea cups. Stuff your face with pizza and then get on a ride and see who can spin the fastest. Not the brightest idea any of us ever had. Jean was the only sane one in the group. After about 10 seconds of spinning and before the ride started, she got off. The rest of us stayed on. Holly and I were spinning fast and I think we were feeling nauseas before the ride even started. No one lost their cookies, but most everyone wasn't feeling to fantastic. After a spell we played some golf, laser tag and more video games...'twas fun.

So Holly helped me get a Sony A100K DSLR camera for my birfday present and she also got me Mario Strikers Charged for the Wii. I racked up some gift cards to the Ala
mo Drafthouse, GameStop and Itunes...w00t!! ANNNND....when we got home later that night, Holly had my birfday cake waiting for me!

Ohhh I'm still alive...

The Chisums Invade Central Texas

Holly's Mom and Dad came down to ATX last Saturday to help her lil bro Mic move down here. On their way in from El Paso they hit Dripping Springs and stopped by Uncle Mike's place. We took along our honorary family member Kirsten and all met down there to check out Mike's new crib and get our grub on. Had some delicioso brats and sirloin burgers. Their place is great. Lots and lots of room for doggies to roam free. Jezebel had a blast running loose off her leash...running...and running...and running. Holly's cousin Stephanie and her kiddos (Tristan, Mac, Tommy and Trinity) we also in town visiting. Her kids were pretty gosh darn cool. Check out the memories from Dripping Springs, Tx. [PHOTOS]

On Monday we headed out Hamilton Pool to chill in the cool fresh water pool. Pretty amazing place just sitting out in the middle of nowhere. "The preserve's pool and grotto were formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago. There is a 45 foot water fall creating a great swimming hole." Great time and a great place we will definitely be visiting again. [PHOTOS]

Oklahoma!!

Back in June, the 20th to be exact, Holly and I headed up to Edmond, Ok. (right outside Oklahoma city) to visit my mum, step-dad, sister and her two kiddos. The girls, Belle and Genesis, are getting huge now...talking like real human beings, its crazy. Genesis is too a little too smart now...if she says something she shouldn't be saying, after you ask her "What?", she can change her comment on the fly into something "nice." Its scary.

So lets see...we got there late night Friday because traffic on I-35 was killer. With construction and dumb people who don't know how to drive, we wasted probably 2 hours of drive time either parked or coasting down the interstate. Bummer. We finally got across the state line into Oklahoma and its past our feeding time, so we stop at a KFC. After a few minutes we realize people keep staring at us. The place is packed with families that kind of remind us of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre family. Our first thoughts are these people don't take kindly to strangers in these here parts, or maybe its cause some weirdo Mexican dude is with a hot white chick. Luckily we ordered it to go, but with the long line at the drive-thru and inside, we still had to wait a while. We sit down and a minute later Holly figured it out. She is wearing a Texas Longhorns shirt and I got on Longhorns sandals. I hope the didn't spit in our food. We figure out why UT is such a rich school too...peeps in Ok. spend tons of money on UT merchandise. We saw UT flags on the back of trucks being flown upside and lots of Longhorns emblems on cars with their horns "sawed off." UT thanks y'all for the support!

So didn't have much time Friday night with the family. Saturday my mum, Holly, Bell, Gen and I headed out to go lazy boy shopping. We reorganized our living room and now have a spot for a recliner. Apparently Oklahoma City is known for its plethora of furniture stores. First spot we hit had snooty high class furniture...we are neither snooty nor high class. We ended up at Matthis Brothers and they had fancy stuff, but they had normal people furniture too...with some sweet deals. Scored a Lazy Boy recliner, big comfy one, for under $500...we were psyched about it. We then picked Roy up for lunch and then went back home and packed up to go fishing at our secret location. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where crappie, bass and catfish instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Guthrie. We brought in huge numbers of fish again, most of them caught by my nieces...they kept my mum busy since it was up to here to remove the fish and re-bait the hook. Holly and I took a break to walk around the countryside and check out the bovine in the area. Holly ended up chasing some of them off a cliff, funny stuff. Then she did her impression of Laura Ingles running down a hill in the intro to the old Little House on the Prairie episodes. Roy started catching some catfish that looked like fun so I gave it a try. Caught two of them. The first one was huge....had to be at least 5 pounds. So fun trying to reel that sucker in.

The next morning we had breakfast and relaxed a bit and wrapped up another nice weekend at my mum's place. The End.

You can check out our photo album of the weekend HERE.
