Garica's 10th Wedding Anniversary

Holy moly...10 years just like that. I don't get how there is such a high divorce rate? This marriage thing is fun! Props to the big guy upstairs (not T-Bone, higher upstairs) for giving Holly the strength to put up with me. So, for our real anniversary (December 20, 1997) we just hung out on 6th street. We stopped by True Blue Tattoo and talked to a guy about a couple tats. Was more expensive then we thought...so those will have to wait a bit. If you want to contribute to the Garcia Tattoo Fund (GTF), just snail mail or paypal me! We stopped at the Dizzy Rooster for a drink and ended up at the Velveeta Room to check out the open mic comics. Open mic is great...don't recommend sitting in the front though. It was depressing when someone bomb so bad...you want to laugh, but when they look at you and it is obvious your laughing AT them and not WITH them, you almost feel bad. Almost. Open mic night was great though, definitely will go back for that.

So this week I'm thinking that wasn't much for a 10th anni. I'm a fly by the seat of my shorts kind of guy, I don't like pants much, and decided "Hey! Lets go to Sea World." Called Holly's brother up and he said he'd watch the kids for us (T-Bone, Jezebel and Tiger II) and last Thursday we headed to San Antonio. Spent the day at Sea World and had a super-fantastic fun time. We were surprised how many people were there at the end of December. As usual, Shamu and all the shows were great. They added a new show since the last time we were there, Waggin' Tales. This show has a country twang and the stars of the show are doggies, cats, pigs, ducks, geese, ponies, birds and a kangaroo. The highlight of the day had to be the sea lion show, The Cannery Row Caper. Before the show actually started and people are filling the seats, one of the actors who plays a reporter comes out to entertain the growing crowd. She is on stage being silly and making googly eyes with a guy in the audience. The guy is with his wife and kid, but the wife doesn't find it funny....which makes it funny for us. The reporter then works her way into the crowd and towards her guy, she gives him and his kid a high five then glances at the wife and jokingly turns away but quickly smiles and comes back to her to give her a high five. When the wife lifts her hand up to give her 5, the reporter quickly pulls away laughing. That was great...really ticked off the wife. So now she works her way to the front of the audience and starts coming up the aisle and we see her eye us and look away and she keeps climbing getting closer to our row. She stops at our row and points to us to pose for a picture. She pulls out a waterproof disposable camera and takes our pic. That wasn't so bad. Then she points to me and tells me to come with her...Holly laughs at me and tells me to go. Then the reporter points at Holly too and makes her get up. So now we are in the aisle and she takes our pic again. She doesn't like it. Tells us to stay there then walks away and takes another pic. Finally she brings us down to the front and grabs a set of little twin girls from the audience and brings them down to. She takes a pic of our new happy family. She sends the twins back up then brings down the guy she was "flirting" with before and has us all take a pic. Then she takes Holly out of the pic and gives her the camera and makes her take a pic of the 3 of us. She tells Holly she can keep the camera and sends her back up. She gives me her hat to hold out, tells the other guy to kneel down and then acts out how happy she is that he is proposing to her. Now she brings us center stage and gets us clapping and pumping up the crowd. I think I had to do the Macarena and I know I did "the sprinkler." I was laughing most the time...we also did the wave, good times.

After that we walked back over to the Dolphin Cove to see if they were still feeding. Got there and feeding time had ended. We tried to get some pics and remembered we had the waterproof camera. So I put the camera underwater and tried to get some pics that way, even though I couldn' tell for certain which way the camera was pointed. The camera caught the attention of a couple of dolphins. Instead of just swimming by like they had been doing, they did a double take and stopped, then got closer. I was able to get a couple decent close-up shots. They kept coming by...it was pretty neat.

From there we made our way to the Steel Eel and the Penguin Encounter. We decided it wasn't worth standing in line for the Steel Eel since we probably wouldn't be able to go on with the camera bag. So we just went through the penguin display. At the end, we stopped to get a pic in front of a display they had. I asked a man to take our pic and his response was, "Sure, you guys were good sports at the sea lion show."

From Sea World it was off to downtown San Antonio and our hotel on the Riverwalk. We unpacked and headed out for dinner. The Riverwalk was crowded with the Alamo Bowl crowd and the pep rallies. We finally stopped at Rita's for dinner and enjoyed some margaritas and tex-mex food. It was a very good end to a fun day and 10 years of being together.

Love ya babe!
