Hi-Tech El Paso Delivery Truck

We've all been there, the excitement of a big new purchase like a couch, bed, other furniture or appliances like a new refrigerator. The not so great part is how to get that big item home. Shell out the cash for delivery and then wait at home between the hours of 7AM-7PM for the delivery window. Most of us just borrow someone's pick-up and get some friends to help.

These 2 El Pasoans have demonstrated how to take home your new fridge without a truck, strong friends or money for someone else to deliver. This is an easy 3 step delivery process for those short on funds and friends.

Step 1. Get a dolly for the fridge
Step 2. Tell Chuy to sit in your trunk (don't close the trunk)
Step 3. Hand the dolly to Chuy and go home

I'm guessing these people have friends who were demanding their money back at Chico's Tacos and refusing to vacate the premises while the place burned down. Which explains their new fancy pants dolly deliver service.

"Mexican ingenuity (?) here in El Paso, Texas - a guy sitting in the trunk holding on to a refrigerator being pulled by a dolly! (this was on Paisano near Bowie High School). I'll bet this makes those of you who have left EP to really miss this place huh!"
Yup...miss it lots...can't wait to go home! Special props to my pops for passing along these great photos!

Woohoo, Tax Rebates!

Gotta fix that failing economy. $600 per individual with an adjusted gross income of less than $75K/year or $1200 per couple with an AGI of $150K/year. Sweeeeet. $300 per kid too...dang, don't got any poop factories of my own. A kid is worth a XBOX 360!

A Trip to Florence for Vegas

A what for who? Couple weeks ago we're sitting at home chillin' as usual when the phone rings. We never answer the phone, if anyone worth talking to ever calls us, they always call our cell. The answering machine picks up and of course its some weirdo lady calling...but it wasn't your normal telemarketer call. "Hello Frank, this is so-and-so calling from some-place-or-other. Remember the contest you entered late last year for $50,000 or a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle? Well I've got great news for you. Call me when you..." this is where I jumped out of my chair and ran to go pick up the phone (SUCKER). Yeah, the great news wasn't that I won. The great news was that I was selected to go check out a new Golf Community, Feather Bay, that is under development in Brownwood, Texas. I almost hung up, then they suckered me in again..."For coming out, we're going to give you 2 round trip tickets to Las Vegas, 3 days/2 nights in hotel, $50 gift card to Wal-Mart and a $75 check card for gas." I quickly looked at Holly, "road trip?" After a nod from her, it was on! Fast forward to Saturday...

Saturday morning we wake up around 6:15am and take off. Picked up a Sonic breakfast burrito and some Route 44 Diet Cherry-Limeades, cranked up the radio and we were off! Surprisingly, it only took about 2 hours to get there. Holly had me practicing how to just say NO! She didn't want another Orlando on our hands :) Here is the great part. We get there, with our e-mail confirmation in hand and they tell us and about 3 other couples that we aren't on the "list" and they don't have any of the stuff (free trip and gift cards). One guy just about went ballistic and had his finger in the face of the lady who broke the news to us. So I went up and just asked who exactly I need to talk to get my stuff. She pointed to a phone number on the e-mail print out. So I stepped outside and called, talked to George who said they had me scheduled for the 9th and not the 2nd. He apologized for the confusion and said he'd get all our free gifts mailed out to us ASAP!! So we get our free gifts without having to go on the 2-hour tour, the 2-hour tour. We cruised back home, past through Zephyr, Mullin, Lampasas and finally stopped in Florence for a bite to eat. We ate at Mano's Mexican Food. Was typical central Texas mexican food, but it was alright. Had to fill up to...and where do you go to get gas? You go to the store!

So, anyone else want to go to Vegas!?

All Is Fair In Love and Bowling

What to do on a Friday without music? Lately I've been hanging with friends on Friday nights playing guitar way too long into the morning. This week we skip out on jammin' and Holly and I took off. Decided to go bowling. We went to 300 Austin bowling lanes because it is pretty close by on I-35 [ also known as the Holy Highway :P ]. In case you hadn't realized it, Holly and I are pro-caliber bowlers. I can break 200 easy and Holly is right there behind me. Here are the typical results our bowling rivalry. The last time we played, Holly got the best of me. I had 2 frames (4 and 9, which really hurt my 10th frame) with splits and couldn't pick either of them up. In the end, Holly came up huge and bowled a record high 193 vs. my weak 172. So, you know, we're pretty skilled at bowling and thought we could easily handle the local bowling lane. After all, we've bowled with the infamous Michael Jackson! (see pic 1)

So Friday night we're off to 300 Austin. First off, this place is not your usual bowling lane. It was a bit too high class for us. We had a waiter/server guy...not sure what you call him. Just like you have a waitperson at a restaurant, we had one for our lane. Anything we needed, food, drink, bowling malfunction, payment...all he had to do was push the [spoon|fork|knife] button and Jake would come running over to help. It was weird. We just wanted to bowl and be left alone. Anywho, the games were underway and Holly and I had a challenge. Whoever wins gets a massage! Apparently Wii bowling skills don't equate to throwing a heavy ball down a slippery wood floor. We had a blast rockin the bowling lane and I (Silver N Black) beat Holly (Raider Nation) 2 games to none (110-86, 115-99). Going to have to get more practice in on the Wii!!
