Back in June, the 20th to be exact, Holly and I headed up to Edmond, Ok. (right outside Oklahoma city) to visit my mum, step-dad, sister and her two kiddos. The girls, Belle and Genesis, are getting huge now...talking like real human beings, its crazy. Genesis is too a little too smart now...if she says something she shouldn't be saying, after you ask her "What?", she can change her comment on the fly into something "nice." Its scary.
So lets see...we got there late night Friday because traffic on I-35 was killer. With construction and dumb people who don't know how to drive, we wasted probably 2 hours of drive time either parked or coasting down the interstate. Bummer. We finally got across the state line into Oklahoma and its past our feeding time, so we stop at a KFC. After a few minutes we realize people keep staring at us. The place is packed with families that kind of remind us of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre family. Our first thoughts are these people don't take kindly to strangers in these here parts, or maybe its cause some weirdo Mexican dude is with a hot white chick. Luckily we ordered it to go, but with the long line at the drive-thru and inside, we still had to wait a while. We sit down and a minute later Holly figured it out. She is wearing a Texas Longhorns shirt and I got on Longhorns sandals. I hope the didn't spit in our food. We figure out why UT is such a rich school too...peeps in Ok. spend tons of money on UT merchandise. We saw UT flags on the back of trucks being flown upside and lots of Longhorns emblems on cars with their horns "sawed off." UT thanks y'all for the support!
So didn't have much time Friday night with the family. Saturday my mum, Holly, Bell, Gen and I headed out to go lazy boy shopping. We reorganized our living room and now have a spot for a recliner. Apparently Oklahoma City is known for its plethora of furniture stores. First spot we hit had snooty high class furniture...we are neither snooty nor high class. We ended up at Matthis Brothers and they had fancy stuff, but they had normal people furniture too...with some sweet deals. Scored a Lazy Boy recliner, big comfy one, for under $500...we were psyched about it. We then picked Roy up for lunch and then went back home and packed up to go fishing at our secret location. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where crappie, bass and catfish instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Guthrie. We brought in huge numbers of fish again, most of them caught by my nieces...they kept my mum busy since it was up to here to remove the fish and re-bait the hook. Holly and I took a break to walk around the countryside and check out the bovine in the area. Holly ended up chasing some of them off a cliff, funny stuff. Then she did her impression of Laura Ingles running down a hill in the intro to the old Little House on the Prairie episodes. Roy started catching some catfish that looked like fun so I gave it a try. Caught two of them. The first one was huge....had to be at least 5 pounds. So fun trying to reel that sucker in.
The next morning we had breakfast and relaxed a bit and wrapped up another nice weekend at my mum's place. The End.
